Brendan Fang Wins MMA Debut

September 3, 2011 Columbus Ohio, Bredan Fang of Wainfleet made the six hour trip with his coaches from Welland's Modern Vision MMA to Columbus Ohio to face Cleveland Ohio based fighter Jeremy Langley for his MMA debut.

Round 1

Fang immediately closed the distance on the much taller Langley seconds after the opening bell and landed an impressive double-leg takedown. Langley, however, managed to sneak in a guillotine choke off of the takedown stalling Fang's progress. Fang defended the choke for the majority of the first round before breaking free of it and landing some aggressive ground and pound to end the first round.

Round 2

This round began as a stand-up striking battle in which Fang managed to land a couple solid leg kicks. Langley showing fatigue from the failed submission attempt in the first round was slowing and Fang pounced in taking Langley at mid round.

Shortly after landing the takedown Fang passed Langley's guard and proceeded to mount him and finish the fight with strikes forcing the referree to stop the fight. Fang wins by TKO at 2:33 of round 2.

"We are proud of Brendan as he has grown leaps and bounds since joining our camp (Team Ascension). He showed a lot of poise defending that choke. Most debut fighters would have tapped but Brendan has drilled this defense and had confidence in his training," says his coach Chris Bonfoco of Welland's Modern Vision MMA (Team Ascension).

Next up for Vision/ Team Ascension will be Andrew Cseh's nationally televised fight on "The Score" October 28 versus Ottawa's Randy Turner in Gatineau Quebec.

Team Ascension now includes Welland's Modern Vision MMA, Welland's Niagara MMA Training House, Muay Thai Niagara (St. Catharines), Buffalo Training Centre (Buffalo), Ascension Trenton and Salvosa BJJ (Toronto)
